We always want to have Google as the default search engine of the browsers. Because does it good, actually best.
But sometimes when we install some extensions or applications it changes the search engine to something else. Then we have to open www.google.com first and then type our query there, it’s so annoying.
Or maybe the browser is set up with another search engine by default.
Here I will show you the steps to set up Google as the default search engine on some popular web browsers.
- Set up Google as the default search engine on Google Chrome.
- Set up Google as the default search engine on Mozilla Firefox.
- Set up Google as the default search engine on Safari.
- Set up Google as the default search engine on Opera.
Set up Google as the default search engine on Google Chrome:
Though Google chrome comes with Google as the default search engine. If it changes to some search engine then you need to set it again to Google. Here is how to do it.
- Open the Settings page of the Google Chrome browser. You can do this by clicking on the three dots on the top right of the browser and under it you will find Settings.
Or typechrome://settings/
on the address bar. - Click on the Search engine at the left panel.
- You will find the list of the search engines under the Search engine.
- Select Google from the list.
Set up Google as the default search engine on Mozilla Firefox:
- Open the Preferences page of Firefox.
- You can do this by clicking on the hamburger menu at the top right of the browser and under this click on Options.
Alternatively, you can typeabout:preferences
on the address bar to open the Preferences page. - Click on Search at the left panel.
- Under the Default Search Engine, you will find the list of search engines.
- Select Google from the list.
Set up Google as the default search engine on Safari:
- Click on the Safari menu at the top of the window.
- Click on Preferences.
- Under the General tab, you will find the Default search engine.
- Under the list click on Google to set the search engine to Google.
- Your default search engine is now Google.
Set up Google as the default search engine on Opera:
- Open the Settings page of the Opera browser. Click on the Opera menu at the top right Left and under it click on Settings.
Alternatively, you can pressAlt + P
on your keyboard to open the Settings page. - Click on Basic.
- Scroll the window, you will find the Search engine.
- You will see the list of the search engines the browser has. Select Google from the list to set it.
