How to share a Google Calendar with people, by link, or one event
Share a Google Calendar with specific people, share it with a link that needs your approval, or share a single event with guests and send them a reminder email.
Jump to a step (5)
When a coworker, family member or client needs to know your schedule, sending screenshots or typing out times does not scale. Google Calendar can share the whole calendar or a single event, with the permission level you choose.
Google Calendar gives you a few ways to share. You can add people by email with a permission such as See all event details or Make changes to events. You can share a link, which asks people to request access so you stay in control. Or you can invite guests to one event only.
Sharing a whole calendar is done from Google Calendar in a web browser. The mobile app does not offer it.
What you need
- A Google account with Google Calendar
- The Google account email address of each person you share with
- A web browser (calendar sharing is not available in the mobile app)
Step by step

01
Open the calendar's sharing settings
In Google Calendar in a browser, find the calendar under your calendar list on the left. Click the three dots next to it and choose Settings and sharing. Scroll down to Share with specific people or groups.
-
02
Add people and choose their permission
Click Add people and groups and type the person's email address. Choose a permission, such as See all event details or Make changes to events, and click Send.
The person gets an email. They click the link to add the calendar, then Add. It appears under Other calendars, where they can rename it.
-
03
Share the calendar with a link
In Settings and sharing, click Get shareable link and copy it. When someone opens the link, they click Add and then Request access.
You receive an email with the request. Approve it, choose the permission (for example See all event details) and click Send. Now that person can see the calendar.
-
04
Share a single event
To share just one event, create or open the event and type the person's email in Add guests. Click Save, then Send to email the invitation. When the guest accepts, a check mark appears next to their name (refresh if it still says awaiting).
-
05
Send guests a reminder email
Open the event and use Email guests. Type a short message, such as a reminder before the meeting, and send it. Guests receive an email with the event name and your message.
Tips and common problems
- You cannot share a whole calendar from the Google Calendar mobile app. On a phone, open Google Calendar in the browser, switch to the desktop view and follow the same steps.
- People who join with a shareable link have to request access, and you approve each request by email. This keeps control of who sees the calendar.
- Pick the lowest permission that works. See all event details lets people read your events, while Make changes to events lets them edit.
- Use Email guests on an event to send a quick reminder or update to everyone invited.
Questions
How do I share my Google Calendar with someone?
In Google Calendar on the web, click the three dots next to the calendar, choose Settings and sharing, then under Share with specific people or groups click Add people and groups. Enter their email, pick a permission and click Send.
Can I share a Google Calendar from my phone?
Not from the Google Calendar app. Open Google Calendar in your phone's browser, switch to the desktop view, and use Settings and sharing.
Can I share just one event instead of my whole calendar?
Yes. Add the person as a guest on that event and send the invitation. They only see that event, not the rest of your calendar.
